“Graduation is not the end of a tough journey.
It is the beginning of a beautiful one.”
My Graduation of CPE2 – Clinical Pastoral Education level 2 in Sydney
What is CPE about? Here is my speech on the Graduation about CPE….
“What can you do with a little pencil?
Meditating on a little-pencil and CPE, there are something I would like to share today:
ONE: Like pencils, the most important part of us will always be what is inside. Otherwise, we are pointless. CPE helps us to see the most beautiful, hopeful, meaningful and spiritual parts in patients, other people and ourselves.
TWO: Like pencils, we will leave our mark as we encounter other people. CPE helps us to touch other lives with deep listening and full presence with empathy and a compassionate heart.
THREE: No one is perfect, that is why pencils have erasers. CPE is a great place where we receive feedback from supervisors, peers, pastoral cares, hospital systems. We have learnt from our mistakes and from there, we grow up.
FOUR: Like pencils, we will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems. Patients in hospitals undergo painful experiences with their health situations. We can imagine how painful and fearful that could be. With CPE, we are trained to provide spiritual and emotional support, to assist patients and their family in the search for meaning during these difficult times.
AND FIVE: We will be able to do many great things, but only if we allow ourselves to be held in God’s hand and allow other human beings to access us for the many gifts we possess.
I am because we are and God is!
Thank you all for being here with us today and those who are with us spiritually,
thanks for showing your support and prayers.
It means a lot to us.
