We often think, “If I had done things differently, my life would be so much better!” For instance:
- If I had chosen a different field of study, my life might have been richer and more comfortable.
- If I had decided to move to another city, my life might have flourished there.
- If I had never met that person, my life might have been happier.
However, with the mindset, knowledge, and experience we had at the time, it’s hard to say if we could have acted differently or if we would have made the same choices. The outcome might not have changed regardless.
Do you think that an alternative path back then would have been better? A new direction might have brought its own set of challenges, as our perspective at that time was uniquely ours.
When reflecting on the past, there are two ways to approach it:
- Regret and wonder: “If only I had done things differently, my life would be better now. I’m struggling because I didn’t make the right choices.”
- Gratitude: Appreciate the lessons learned and the growth that came from our experiences. Failures have made us stronger, and everyone we met taught us valuable lessons about humanity and ourselves. Everything happens for a reason and serves a meaningful purpose.
Ultimately, wherever we are is where we need to be. Whoever we meet is someone we need to encounter. Whatever we do is the right thing for that moment.
Enjoy your life, with all its sunny days and rainy ones!
With love,
