A group of people walked through the desert, most of them looking tired, their steps heavy. Scowls were etched on their faces. However, one man stood out. He walked effortlessly, his face calm and serene. Some of the others, curious, asked him, “How is it that you look so comfortable?” He smiled and replied, “Perhaps I am carrying the lightest load.”
Though simple, this story carries a profound message.
Everyone seeks happiness, but many are unwilling to let go of the unnecessary things that stand in the way of it. The more we accumulate, the less content we seem to be.
Often, people confuse “what they need” with “what they want.” To live, we need very little— a place to sleep, food to eat, clothes and shoes to work in. But our wants are more complicated—more furniture, expensive meals, a wardrobe full of clothes to impress others.
Those who live simply and elegantly don’t need luxury clothing to stand out. They shine through their kindness, generosity, and positive attitude, even in modest attire. In countries like Germany, Australia, and Japan, many millionaires blend in on the streets, dressed like everyone else, their wealth invisible beneath ordinary clothes and a warm smile.
Take a moment to reflect on this idea, my friend.
God bless,
Have a nice weekend!
With love,
