Spring is God’s quiet declaration: “I am making all things new.”
Listen to the Bible: “Winter is over. Springtime has come, and the sound of the doves can be heard.” – Song of Song 2:11
Winter whispers: “This is how it will always be.”
Spring replies: “Watch what God can do.”
In winter everything appears lifeless:
Branches bare
Fields silent
Color drained.
But beneath the surface, unseen and unnoticed, life is already at work.
Roots are deepening.
Strength is forming.
Change is on the way.
That is the way of God.
You may be walking through a winter season: Discouraged, delayed, or disheartened. But God never wastes a winter. What feels like an ending is often his preparation for a new beginning. He is the God who turns frost into flowers. Who takes what is barren and makes it beautiful Who brings life out of what looked like loss.
And the sound of doves in the Bible, the dove is the sign of peace and the symbol of the Holy Spirit. When God draws near, peace settles and new life begins. So, don’t settle in winter. Don’t rehearse your regrets and call it your future.
Winter is a chapter, but it is not a conclusion. Because through Jesus, winter has been decisively broken. At the cross, forgiveness was won. At the resurrection, life burst forth. So if you feel frozen, turn to Christ. Trust him, invite him in, because with Christ, the final word is never winter, it is always spring.
Let us pray:
Lord, thank you that you are the God of new beginnings.
Where our hearts feel cold, bring warmth.
When our lives feel barren, bring fruit.
Where we feel stuck, bring new life.
Let your springtime come in us and through us by your Spirit. Amen.
